The Oakland Athletics talented third baseman is still learning at his particular assigned position as how he can be more influential for his team as well as for his own game.
Reports are coming regarding Donaldson’s hard practice sessions which he is taking only to get better on third base, certainly a great initiative itself as he understands how important this position is.
Only one year veteran in the Major League Baseball Donaldson possesses the right kind of abilities to become a star third baseman in the long run. Since this season has started and even in Spring Trainings, he has been performing and showing his true caliber.
Some of the very top players face difficulties on this particular position, but the A’s management and infield coaches say that Donaldson is a hardworking player and always listens to them.
A’s infield coach Mike Gallego said, "This guy will wear you out, He wants to take a thousand ground balls."
Later Donaldson said for his preparation and learning process, "I think I had a lot of this stuff happen in spring training. But getting on a major league field where it's real and not spring training anymore, it puts a little bit of pressure out there. It's nothing I can't deal with."
The team manager Bob Melvin is also happy for Donaldson and the way he is preparing at third base. He said explaining his highs and lows, “At the big league level, it gets a little more precise, (Hitters) get a little bit faster, guys are more precise with bunts. The difference is in the minors guys that can bunt can't necessarily hit and smoke the ball down your throat.”
Currently Donaldson is having .200 along with 1 RBIs and .200 OBP in 2012 Major League Baseball while his career batting average is consistent at .154, one homer, 4 RBIs and growing .195 OBP also makes him a young and talented player at third base.
Some experts believe that he will be influential in this ongoing Major League competition and can play a vital role in A’s consistent ball play.
