Oakland Athletics: Looking to carry their winning momentum in to 2013 MLB season – MLB Feature
The Oakland Athletics had a tremendous 2012 Major League Baseball regular season. The team managed to successfully win the American League West Division title with a win-loss record of 94-68.
Manager Bob Melvin showed his brilliance as he got all the players on the same page and helped the Athletics dominate during the 2012 regular season. Most baseball experts were surprised at the fact that the Athletics’ payroll was the lowest in the Major
League at around $59.5 million. Yet, he still managed to finish on top of the AL West Division with an excellent record.
Oakland has always taken chances by bringing in players and then allowing them to play their natural game. The team has always seen success from their players when they play openly without restrictions. Manager Melvin seems to understand the talents of each
of his players and works on improving their talents individually.
The Athletics came together as a team during the 2012 regular season. New players like Yoenis Cespedes seemed to fit in to the Oakland system nicely. The fans just can’t get enough from the Athletics as they managed to make it to the postseason in 2012.
It was disappointing to lose to the Detroit Tigers in the AL Division Series, especially by such a short margin.
Having resigned manager Bob Melvin the Athletics’ management has shown great trust and faith in his managerial style. They like what they see and so do the fans. Oakland now seems to want to win and continue winning.
As the Spring Training sessions are right around the corner, the Athletics will be hoping that the team stays healthy and fit. Oakland is looking very strong and it will not be a surprise to anyone during the 2013 regular season if they come out swinging.
Being in the highly competitive AL West Division with teams like the Los Angeles Angels, Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners, it will not be easy for them to maintain their dominance.
The Angels are always strengthening their depth and the Texas Rangers can never be counted out from any game. Oakland will be looking to play their natural aggressive style and start winning from the beginning of the 2013 regular season.
Players like Jarrod Parker, Yoenis Cespedes, Brandon Moss and others really did a wonderful job during the 2012 season. It will be exciting to see this group of players come out and dominate again in 2013. Oakland is always known to surprise many, especially
last year but having matured on the field and in the line-up it looks like it will be another successful season for the Athletics.
If the Athletics play to their strengths by maintaining an aggressive stance, they should not have any problems winning during the 2013 regular season. The team is hungry to carry on their winning momentum and surprise some teams.
Making it to the postseason and quite possibly even further will be a dream for the Athletics in 2013. If the team plays like they did last year, I will not be surprised to see the Athletics sitting on top the table. It will be exciting to see the Athletics
play during the 2013 season as the fans are always wanting more and this year Oakland can definitely deliver the goods. The Athletics are talented enough to go all the way this year, it is just a question of how hard they work together to get the job done.
