Oakland Athletics all set to play Detroit Tigers in game-three of ALDS – MLB Update
Oakland Athletics are all set to play against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday, October 9 at O.co Coliseum in the third game of their five-game series of American League Division Series.
"Everybody always says I'm from the old school, so I'd have probably hugged it first, I don't think it was the right thing to do. I will sit here today and I will not try to defend it. I will say that I can assure everybody, including the Oakland A's, Al Alburquerque did nothing intentionally to offend the Oakland A's,” Tigers’ manager Jim Leyland said.
Leyland added, “You see a lot of different variations of personal celebrations as well as team celebrations. It wasn't a smart thing to do, but I can honestly tell you that there is no way that Al Alburquerque.”
Currently Athletics’ are down 0-2 but they are preparing well for this coming game. Brett Anderson is expected to start in the third and important game.
He is currently having a good season with 2.57 ERA along with 4-2 win-loss, 25 strike-outs and 1.03 WHIP. While he also knows that his performance will make a major difference in his team’s overall result.
On the other hand, the Tigers will be relying on Anibal Sanchez to start the game. Sanchez is performing well in this season as his ERA is quite consistent at 3.86 along with 9-13 win-loss, 167 strike-outs and 1.27 WHIP.
Tigers’ pitching rotation is playing well in the ALDS. From Justin Verlander to Doug Fister, everyone is playing with great offensive approach.
In game one of ALDS, Verlander showed his class as he pitched seven solid innings and received one run and three hits. He struck-out eleven potential Athletics’ batters and finished with consistent stats.
While Fister, who started the game-two for the Tigers also gave them a good platform to rattle the Athletics.
Fister on his seven innings spell, allowed two runs and six hits and maintained his ERA during his entire spell.
Meanwhile, now comes the responsibility on Anibal Sanchez’s shoulders as he has been selected to start. He also knows that if he does well in the upcoming fixture, the Tigers have a very good chance to win the ALDS.
