Oakland Athletics all set to start new beginning next season – MLB News
Currently almost every Major League franchise is busy spending some time with their loyal fans. These franchises know their fans are the only life-line for them and to mingle around with the general public once in a year does not cost them anything except some free time out of their private lives.
Recently, some reporters visited the Oakland Athletics’ annual FanFest and noted many major players, managers and coaches along with the A’s potential owners were present. They were trying to project the very idea that they have established a huge strategy for next season to put-up an offensive game against every major team.
From potential preparations to the trade dead-line and from new signings to bringing some Minor League players, every key issue was briefly discussed there.
Athletics’ team manager Bob Melvin said with excitement during a press conference on Monday evening regarding opening day honours, “That would be a lot of fun. That's one of those notches anyone would like to have. This is the big leagues and big competition, and you're expected to win, and that's what we expect to do.” He further mentioned that A’s as team are confident to achieve good results next season.
Later, one of the Athletics’ ace starters Dallas Braden commented on his team’s preparations especially for Manny Ramirez, who is preparing with a definite purpose to perform in the upcoming regular season.
Braden said, “He's just a pure hitter, and he knows what he's doing, if something like that does happen, we can only benefit. But we're also creating something here with dedication, hard work and appreciation for the game. And anybody who comes on board is going to have to accept that.”
Last season, the Athletics were behind the Los Angeles Angels winning a total 74 games. They lost 88 but were still able to sustain a .457 winning average. The next season is certainly going to be tough as every other MLB team is preparing hard and the Athletics on the other hand still need a potential reliever to improve some backup for their bullpen.
