Oakland Athletics crush Boston Red Sox 6-2 – MLB Recap
Oakland Athletics crushed the Boston Red Sox 6-2 in the third and last game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, September 2 at O.co Coliseum in Oakland.
Athletics played well and earned a great victory in the end. They played aggressive throughout the game and eventually edged past the Red Sox in style.
"It's crazy, Who would have predicted that Sept. (2) that we'd be tied with the Yankees for the same record? Everything's working right now -- offense, defense, pitching. When that's happening, special things are going to happen," pitcher Brett Anderson said.
“We're not looking too far ahead, I don't think we're going to worry about who we're tied with right now. All that matters is when that last game of the year comes along, where we're at at that point," Reddick said.
Athletics’ entire roster did not show any loop-holes and performed brilliantly.
Centre fielder Coco Crisp scored two runs on his three at-bats while he also maintained his slugging percentage at .416.
Designated hitter Seth Smith also did well on the plate as he scored two runs and two hits on his consistent .442 slugging percentage. He also ran for two RBIs and batted quite well on his three at-bats.
Shortstop Stephen Drew added one run on his three hits while he also ran for two RBIs on his consistent .405 slugging percentage.
Along with batters, the Athletics pitchers also did well on the mound. Brett Anderson pitched six innings and received only one run. He allowed five hits while he also struck-out four Red Sox’s hitters on his persistent 0.90 ERA.
On the other hand, the Red Sox’s were poor in the field. They did not show any fighting spirit and lost the game with bitter humiliation.
"We don't have the firepower to keep climbing out of big holes early, It's a tough way to make a living," Red Sox skipper Bobby Valentine said.
Red Sox's starter Daisuke Matsuzaka certainly struggled in the game. He was hammered with six runs and seven hits on his 6.15 ERA. He also received two homers and literally lost the game for the Red Sox.
