Oakland Athletics crush Los Angeles Dodgers 4-1 – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics crushed the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-1 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Thursday, June 21 at O.co Coliseum in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The A’s played better than the Dodgers and took the game away in style. This was the third straight victory for the A’s on their home field. Winning the series as well, the A’s’ now look very confident and showing great momentum towards a more consistent
winning path.
In Thursday’s game, the A’s designated hitter Yoenis Cespedes did well and smashed a walk off homer which gave his team a superb win.
“I thought about it, and I know what happened to [Kendrys] Morales, so I wasn't going to jump. But no chance. I jumped. I wasn't looking for a specific pitch, I was just looking for something to drive deep enough to bring in a run. I knew it was in fair
territory. What I didn't know was it was going to be a home run.” Cespedes said with confidence.
Not only the A’s’ batting lineup helped their team to win the game, but their pitching offence also did very well and showed their valour.
Starter Travis Blackley pitched eight innings and received just one run and three hits. He struck-out six batters and made sure that his ERA remains at 3.15.
Clayton Kershaw on the other hand, also played well for the Dodgers but his accurate and balanced pitching could not save the game for his team.
He tossed solid eight innings and received one run and three hits along with one earned run as his ERA remained at 2.73.
Later, Dodgers’ manager Don Mattingly said on his team’s poor performance, "Honestly, we didn't do enough in any of the games to win any of them. We didn't put them in any danger at any point of the series. We didn't have guys in scoring position.”
In the meanwhile, despite this particular defeat, the Los Angeles Dodgers are still at top of their Division with 42-28 win loss along with .600 winning percentage. Oakland will be looking to carry their winning momentum forward as they build up some confidence
in their game.
