Oakland Athletics crush Milwaukee Brewers 10-2 – MLB news
Oakland Athletics crushed the Milwaukee Brewers 10-2 in first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, June 03 at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
Athletics batting lineup rattled the Brewers pitchers and won the important first game of the series. Coco Crisp once played a key role in his team’s win as he scored one two runs on four hits. He ran for one RBI on his five at bats and remained consistent
on his .513 slugging percentage.
“It's fun. It's something different that we get to do a few times a year,” Athletics pitcher Tommy Milone said.
Catcher John Jaso not only did well behind the plate but he also played very well on the plate. He scored two important RBIs on his six at bats.
“He swings the bat well. He came through with runners on,” Jaso said.
Yoenis Cespedes also did well with his one run and one RBI. He batted five times and hit hard with his persistent slugging percentage of .447.
“When he takes batting practice he looks like a hitter, Seems like every at-bat he's had this year, even in spring training, was a good at-bat,” A's manager Bob Melvin.
Not only the Athletics’ batting lineup dominated the entire game, their pitchers also played very well and gave no chance to the Brewers hitters to play freely.
Tommy Milone pitched seven solid innings and allowed only two runs on five hits. He struck out four and remained consistent with his persistent 3.91 ERA.
“He's pitched pretty well for us. He's a consistent guy who does basically the same thing most times out, He wants to make sure he doesn't walk guys or put guys on base when one home run could get them back in the game in a hurry,” A's manager Bob Melvin
said for Milone.
On the other hand, the Brewers pitchers allowed too many runs and lost the game bitterly in the end. Their starter Marco Estrada pitched only four innings and allowed five runs on nine hits. He also allowed five earned runs and received two homers on 5.32
ERA.
Not only Brewers starting pitcher, their relievers also could not do much to stop the heavy hammering of Athletics’ upfront hitters. Burke Badenhop only pitched one inning and allowed three runs along with three earned runs on 3.51.
