Oakland Athletics crush Minnesota Twins 9-4 – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics crushed the Minnesota Twins 9-4 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, July 15 at Target Field, Minneapolis.
Athletics’ played beautifully and powered past the Twins with style. They not only outclassed the Twins in this particular game but they also ousted them in the series 3-0.
All three games were won by the A’s as they now feel much more confident against last year’s World Series finalists, the Texas Rangers in their upcoming series.
Designated hitter Yoenis Cespedes played wonderfully for the A’s as his four-hit game proved exceptional in the end. He also smashed a homer and three RBIs to lift his team to a good win.
A's manager Bob Melvin commented on his team's performance and said, "I think, at times, when you hit homers, they actually play better than just the runs that are put up on the board. On the other side, it can get you down a bit when guys are hitting the ball out of the ballpark.”
He added, “It just has a different affect than say, maybe, a single with a guy on second base. So it's nice to see our guys hitting the ball over the ballpark, and to get it multiple times in the game creates a lot of momentum for us."
This was certainly a good win for the A’s as now they are looking to keep their momentum going towards a potential post season qualification.
In Sundays’ game, the entire A’s roster played as one unit and never gave any chance to the Twins to take control throughout the game. Instead they kept them under pressure and eventually won the game in the end with ease.
Jarrod Parker did well on the mound and tossed six innings. He received just four runs on nine hits along with four earned runs as his ERA remained consistent at 3.07.
On the other hand, starter Brian Duensing was the main reason why the Twins lost the game as he gave six runs on seven hits along with six earned runs. He was also hit with three home-runs as his ERA went to 5.06.
