Oakland Athletics crush Toronto Blue Jays 7-2 – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics crushed the Toronto Blue Jays 7-2 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, July 24 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada.
Athletics’ played brilliantly and earned a great victory against the Blue Jays. It was sixth straight victory for the A’s as they recently ousted the New York Yankees in all four games with ease.
In Tuesday’s game, the entire A’s roster played wonderfully and earned a welcome win against the Blue Jays in their backyard.
From their batting lineup to starting rotation, every player felt their responsibility and did their effort to outplay the Blue Jays.
Centre fielder Yoenis Cespedes played well and with big energy. He scored three RBIs and gave the A’s early advantage to take further control of the game.
Athletics' manager Bob Melvin said of Cespedes, "He's a tough kid, he doesn't get down on himself, I've often said that. He'll get upset with himself and you can see he kind of wears it on his sleeve sometimes but he goes up there with more conviction the next time."
Starting pitcher Travis Blackley also played well and supported Cespedes with his extraordinary pitching skills.
He pitched seven innings and allowed only one run. He received five hits and gave one earned run as well but overall his pitching remained consistent with 2.69 ERA.
"I felt a bit like a fish out of water early, just didn't have a rhythm, The cutter was disgustingly bad today, it didn't work at all. Luckily the curveball was just phenomenal today. I was able to throw it for strikes and below the zone for swings. That pretty much changed the game for me today," Blackley said with confidence.
On the other hand, the Blue Jays entire pitching rotation played poorly and which is the main reason why they lost with much humiliation.
From their starting pitcher to closer, everybody was hammered with hits by the A’s batters.
Brett Cecil gave two while Chad Beck and J.A. Happ each received two hits a-piece and literally lost the game for the Blue Jays.
