Oakland Athletics crushed by Detroit Tigers 2-6 – MLB Recap
Oakland Athletics crushed by Detroit Tigers 2-6 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, September 19 Comerica Park in Detroit.
"If I didn't have this on, I might as well go home, We played a couple good games against one of the hottest teams in all of baseball, That's pretty good," Jim Leyland said.
Miguel Cabrera played well and smashed a homer in bottom seventh and helped his team to oust the A’s with ease.
Overall he scored one run and smashed one hit along with one RBI on his three at-bats. He batted well on the plate and earned a great victory for the Tigers.
Along with Cabrera, second baseman Omar Infante also did well on his five at-bats as he scored one run and smashed one hit along with three RBIs. He played aggressive and maintained his slugging percentage at .367.
Designated hitter Delmon Young scored one run and smashed one hit along with one RBI. He was also able to maintain his slugging percentage at .420.
Tigers’ pitchers, who did not receive any extra runs are the main winning factor for Detroit. They did well on the mound and won in great fashion.
Experienced Justin Verlander tossed solid six innings and received five hits and retired five batters on his consistent 2.74 ERA.
On the other hand, the Athletics’ pitchers did not play well and comprehensively lost the game.
Brett Anderson pitched 2.1 innings and received three runs and three hits. He retired only one batter as his ERA remained at 2.57.
"He's getting an MRI right now. So, we won't know anything until he gets back,” A's manager Bob Melvin said of Anderson.
Melvin added, "We could see earlier in the inning that he was trying to stretch out his back, so I don't think the fall had anything to do with it, We just checked him at that point and decided we didn't want to go any farther with him."
Jim Miller pitched three innings and received two runs and three hits. He struck-out two while he was also hammered with a home-run.
