Oakland Athletics crushed by Minnesota Twins 0-4 – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics yet again fell short bitterly against the Minnesota Twins and continued their losing streak which has now reached to eight games.
Twins, on Wednesday, May 30 at Target Field gave a humiliating hammering to A’s as they could not even a score a single run in nine innings.
Francisco Liriano held the A’s batters with great energy and never allowed them to score receiving only three hits in his six innings spell.
Striking out nine Twins batters, he remained cool on the mound and earned a great win for his team.
"I told myself before the game, the season starts for me today. So everything that happened previously, I had to put it behind me and move forward," said Liriano
Later catcher Drew Butera said for Liriano’s pitching, "The big thing for me: He kept his composure, He has an electric fastball, and obviously you know about that slider. When he's got his stuff, when he's throwing strikes, he's a true ace."
The Athletics’ manager Bob Melvin was not happy on his team’s effort as he later also told the media. Melvin said, "Before this stretch that we're on right now, we've been a team that's been really scrappy and that's how we were finding our identity with
that, that's who we believed we were, We have to take ownership in it."
Twins from start of the game kept the A’s under pressure and never allowed them to take control of the game. They opened up a two runs’ gap early in the 1st inning and strengthened it to four in the fifth.
At that point, the Twins were in total control and never rushed towards win instead held the A’s batting offence to nine innings while eventually wrapped up the game in style.
Twins with this series win have learned many things. Before coming into this series against the A’s, they had lost five consecutive games from Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox, but as soon as they approached this series, they discontinued their defensive
game and brought back more offensive game plan which certainly proved helpful defeating the Oakland Athletics’ powerful batting lineup.
