Oakland Athletics defeat Los Angeles Angels 2-1 – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics defeated the Los Angeles Angels 2-1 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Monday, May 21 at O.co Coliseum, Oakland in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Oakland’s starter Tommy Milone rattled the Angels in his seven innings and proved the winning factor for his team. He remained confident on the mound and allowed one run only. Striking out three batters and allowing five hits, Milone gave a heavy thrashing
to Angels’ batters.
Milone said, "Tremendous amount of confidence right now, It's easy when you have such a big park with a lot of foul territory."
The A’s entire management was happy on its team’s win. They were happy as their team played as one unit and never allowed any loop holes to their opponents.
"The confidence grows every time you play a good game against them. The fact that we're winning some close games here recently against the division and a good team like the Angels, confidence goes a long way." A's manager Bob Melvin said on his team’s great
outing.
On the other hand, the Angels’ management with yet another loss were very upset to see three straight defeats. Before losing to A’s on Monday’s outing, the Angels had already beaten by the San Diego Padres in two consecutive games.
"There are a number of guys who aren't swinging the bat to their capabilities, We're in such a hole that we're not going to make it up in one or two days. It's that pitch-by-pitch grind we have to work toward." Angels manager Mike Scioscia said.
This is not a good sign for the Angels as their main players are not shining and still playing much defensive. They have a bigger task ahead of qualifying into the post season, but with this type of inconsistent performances, they will not reach their potential
goals for this Major League season.
The A’s however, playing well even with their dire pitching rotation. Since Spring Training, they have focused on their batting lineup and still they give more importance to their batting offence which is at the moment giving them winning consistency as
well.
