Oakland Athletics defeat Texas Rangers 3-1 – MLB Recap

"No one said it was going to be easy, We started out to play 162 games and now -- tomorrow -- it's 162. And we'll see what happens. We take it no different than we have been approaching it. We just haven't put our game together yet," Texas manager Ron Washington said about his team’s poor effort.
Athletics’ entire roster did well in the field and earned a good victory against the Texas Rangers. They played as one unit and did not give any chance to the Rangers to dominate them during the entire game.
Designated hitter Jonny Gomes played well on his two at-bats as he scored one run and one hit along with one RBI. He played with great temperament and remained consistent on his .491 slugging percentage.
Second baseman Josh Donaldson scored one run and one hit on his three at-bats. He did well and maintained his slugging percentage at .398.
First baseman Brandon Moss also showed his hard hitting skills on his three appearances on the plate. He scored one run and smashed one hit on his consistent .594 slugging percentage.
Along with good batting line-up, the Athletics' pitchers also showed great aggressive and fast pitching skills which certainly outplayed the Rangers’ batting prowess.

"As long as we believe inside this clubhouse and we know we can get it (done), we're going to do it. I honestly believe we're going to win tomorrow, Nothing is guaranteed, but it's about as good as. I believe we can go out and get it done," closer Grant Balfour said in detail after the game and talked about his and the team’s performance.
Closer Grant Balfour pitched the last inning with great accuracy. He pitched one inning and did not give any run or hit on his consistent 2.57 ERA.
