Oakland Athletics defeat Toronto Blue Jays 7-3 – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 7-3 on Tuesday, May 8, at O.co Coliseum, Oakland in the first game of two-match regular series encounter in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
With this easy win, the Athletics took a commanding position in the series and are also favourite to take away the second game as well which will be played on Wednesday, May 9.
Second baseman Brandon Inge played well and put up a good show in his first start of the season with the A’s.
He was the play maker of single grand slam in the ninth inning which led the A’s to a tremendous win over struggling Blue Jays.
"I'm so happy here right now; it’s a new start for me. I welcomed it. I know we have a young ballclub, but they can play. I'm honored to be a part of this ballclub and trying to help them win. That's what feels the best. I was trying to get it in the outfield. That's all I was trying to do at that point.” said Inge with confidence.
Later shortstop Cliff Pennington, also said for Inge explaining with much appreciative manner, “He's just a gamer, He's a guy it doesn't matter what he's done all game long. In that situation, that's who you want up. What he brings to the table defensively is something else."
The former Detroit Tigers’ player, Inge played his first nine games of this fresh season with the Tigers, but released for A’s on April 26.
The A’s all other experienced and well established players also contributed in their team’s promising victory. From Josh Donaldson to Eric Sogard and from Luke Hughes to short stop Cliff Pennington, played tremendously well and never felt any difficulty during the entire game.
The Blue Jays led early with two-run cushion over the A’s, but found difficult to hold on to this mere lead. Later the A’s quickly managed to level the score in the fifth inning and started a real thrust from there onwards and eventually won the game giving no chance to their opponents to make a comeback.
