Oakland Athletics defeated by Los Angeles Angels 0-4 – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics defeated by Los Angeles Angels 0-4 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, August 6 at O.co Coliseum in Oakland.
Oakland played under pressure from start of the game and lost bitterly in the end. They could not even score a single run in the entire game and looked tired in the field as well. Their entire roster did not play their natural game and could not save the game against the Angels.
Athletics’ pitchers and at the same time their hitters failed miserably and were not able to show any resilience instead they remained under pressure and did not display any energy.
A's upfront batting line-up could have done much better early in the game as they looked slightly aggressive but as they game progressed, the Angels showed their pitching prowess and stopped the A’s offence which later proved disastrous for the Oakland side as they suffered a humiliating defeat in the end.
“Obviously, Weave set the tone and more. Incredible game, It's a great time for a game like that any time from Weave, but to get it after what we've been through this week with our bullpen gives us a big lift,” Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia said.
Starter Jarrod Parker pitched 6.2 innings for the Athletics and received four runs and four earned runs on nine hits.
He looked exhausted on the mound as his ERA also rose to 3.55. Parker’s four runs which he allowed in his spell were enough to seal the victory for the Angels.
“We knew tonight was going to be a low-scoring game, and obviously with Jered going on the other side, it's one of those things you gotta be a little better and stay locked in those innings and prevent the big inning," Parker said.
On the other hand, the Angels who played aggressive from the start of the game also showed some real dominance on the mound as their starter Jered Weaver pitched the entire nine innings for his team and did not allow a single run. The Angels will definitely be happy with their performance as they managed to get their offence started and take a comprehensive victory over the Athletics.
