Oakland Athletics defeated by Texas Rangers 1-3 – MLB news
Oakland Athletics defeated by the Texas Rangers 1-3 in the third game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, May 22 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington in Texas.
The Rangers played wonderfully and won in style. Their hitters and at the same time pitchers played beautifully and gave no chance to the Athletics to bounce back in the game.
“It tests your patience,” said Wolf, who was making his first big league appearance since Oct. 1, 2010, as a reliever for the A's. “My wife gets a lot of the credit. She told me to stick with it, and thank God I did.”
The Rangers upfront batting lineup played wonderfully and kept their lead until the game was finished in their favour.
Shortstop Elvis Andrus scored one run on one hit. He hammered the Athletics starter with big force and showed his commitment hitting at.333 slugging percentage.
Experienced third baseman Adrian Beltre also scored one run on his three at bats. He ran for an RBI and maintained his slugging percentage of .503.
Along with batters, the Rangers offensive pitching lineup also played wonderfully and helped their team win the last game of the series.
Ross Wolf pitched five innings and allowed one run on three hits. He allowed one earned run and struck out three on his 1.80 ERA.
Not just starting pitcher, but the Rangers’ relief pitchers also played wonderfully and never allowed any further runs.
Neal Cotts pitched two innings and received only one hit. He struck out three while his remained consistent on the mound.
“He may have been here in Texas a short time, but he hasn't been at the major league level being successful for a short time, He's throwing the ball the way I remember him throwing with Chicago,” Rangers manager Ron Washington said for Cotts.
Closing pitcher Robbie Ross pitched one inning and remained hitless. He struck out two while his ERA remained consistent on 0.42.
On the other hand, the Athletics pitchers did not play well and lost the game in quite bitter manner. Jarrod Parker pitched seven innings but he received too many runs on 5.76 ERA. He allowed three runs along with two homers which certainly proved one of
the losing factors for the Oakland Athletics.
