Oakland Athletics dominate Los Angeles Angels 10-4 – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics defeated the Los Angeles Angels with a heavy hammering of 10-4. It was the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, August 7 at O.co Coliseum in Oakland.
The Athletics’ upfront offence played brilliantly and achieved a decent victory for their team. They went early into the lead and never looked back while they eventually took the game with style.
Athletics’ pitchers and hitters played well and supported each other’s play with good energy. A’s entire starting line-up played beautifully and made it possible for their team to power past the Angels with ease.
A’s batters looked confident from the start of the game as they knew that if they played combined against the Angels, they will achieve some good result in the end.
During the entire game, the A’s roster never gave any chance to their opponents to take control. Instead they kept the Angels under pressure and eventually won the game.
The Athletics’ hitters no doubt played beautifully but their pitchers were also quite consistent on the mound.
"We weren't playing near as well as we had earlier, certainly as we had in the month of July, and for Bartolo to go out and do what he did against a very good lineup gives us the feeling that we don't have to do too much offensively, just get some good at-bats and push some runs across and he'll take care of the rest," manager Bob Melvin said.
Later Gomes said, "It started with Bart, The name of the game is throwing strikes. The guy's a dinosaur. He's been doing it forever. He knows what he's doing. He knows these hitters.”
Bartolo Colon played extremely well and earned a great victory for his team. He pitched seven innings and allowed one run and four hits only. He struck-out five Angels’ batters as his ERA remained consistent at 3.38.
Along with his team-mate starter closer Travis Blackley also pitched well for the Athletics. He pitched two innings and allowed three runs and three hits along with three earned runs. He struck-out two and his ERA remained persistent at 3.30.
