Oakland Athletics ease past Cleveland Indians 7-0 MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics shut-out the Cleveland Indians 7-0 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, August 28 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
"A loss is a loss, Every single one of them hurts. We couldn't execute at all,” Indians' manager Manny Acta said.
Athletics' upfront pitchers played exceptionally well and earned a great victory for their team.
Tommy Milone showed his class in his six innings spell. He pitched in the right areas and won the game for the Athletics.
He received seven hits without any run on his 3.73 ERA. He struck-out five and played aggressively which proved helpful in the Athletics’ win.
"I didn't have my best stuff, but was able to get through it, They got those guys on, I took a deep breath and was able to make some pitches. You do that, it puts a fire under you," said Tommy Milone.
Later, Athletics' manager Bob Melvin said, "Another strong pitching performance and you can always live with that, I think it is more about us being in a good stretch, They have a lot of guys in their lineup that get your attention."
Relief pitcher Jerry Blevins also did well on the mound and received only one hit on his 2.56 ERA.
Not only hitters but the Athletics' pitchers also played aggressively and proved their valour with great energy.
Josh Reddick scored one run and smashed one run on his .487 slugging percentage. He did well on his five at-bats and helped his team with dedication to oust the Indians.
Designated hitter Seth Smith scored three runs and two hits on his five at-bats. He played intelligently and maintained his slugging percentage at .431.
First baseman Chris Carter added two runs and smashed three hits along with two RBIs. He was certainly one of the winning factors for the Athletics as his slugging percentage also remained consistent at .572.
Along with Carter, Athletics' first baseman Brandon Moss also did well on his five at-bats as he scored one run and smashed two hits.
“Just par for the course, our guys are unbelievable," said Oakland's Brandon Moss.
Moss also added three RBIs and maintained his slugging percentage at .529.
