Oakland Athletics edge Boston Red Sox 3-2 – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics edge past the Boston Red Sox 3-2 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, July 4 at O.co Coliseum.
The A’s played brilliantly and defeated the Red Sox in style. This was the last game of their series but they still played this particular game with the same aggression as they played the first as they defeated the Red Sox with a big 6-1 margin.
First baseman Brandon Moss played tremendously. He hit a homer along with three hits as his brilliant play proved one of the winning factors for the A’s.
"Playing against a team you came up with and team you played your first little bit in the big leagues is special, You want to do well, not out of animosity, but to show, 'Hey, you did draft a good player,’” Moss said with confidence and explained little
details about his decent performance.
On the other hand, despite the fact that the Red Sox lost, they had their moment of joy as well. Their star slugger veteran David Ortiz hit his 400th career home-run and made history.
"And my phone is still blowing up, I know at some point in my career when I'm not playing baseball I might look at it from the outside and be like, 'Whoa, I guess I had a good career.' I look at it right now as just another home run,’" Ortiz told the media
how happy he was after achieving this personal landmark.
The A’s win was a combined effort from their batters and pitchers. Starter A.J. Griffin tossed six innings and smashed for two runs, three hits and one earned run. He struck-out three as his ERA remained consistent at 1.50.
Though the Red Sox starting pitcher Aaron Cook also pitched in the right areas but he could not save the game for his team. He pitched six innings and received nine hits, three runs and three earned runs along with a homer while his ERA rose to 4.37.
Oakland is looking good and it seems that they have found some decent rhythm in their offence. The Red Sox will be looking to improve their performance and become more competitive at this crucial stage of the regular season.
