Oakland Athletics edge Seattle Mariners 2-1 – MLB Update

The Oakland Athletics edge past the Seattle Mariners 2-1 in the third and last game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, July 8 at O.co Coliseum, Oakland.
Designated hitter Josh Reddick played tremendously for the A’s and earned a great victory for their team.
“It feels great, This team has struggled right around the .500 mark and we seem to just fall off every time we get close. For us to go in halfway through this thing at .500 is huge." Reddick said with confidence and stated in the media as to how his team
was able to produce such a balanced performance.
Jemile Weeks also played well and contributed one run and two hits in his team’s great win.
"He's come up big in big situations, He's provided power, maybe even more than people expected." Weeks said.
Mariners on the other hand, could not match the A’s brilliance and lost bitterly in the end.
"That's the No. 1 area where we've got to get a lot better and we have to d**n sure be more consistent, They have to be ready to come back and be a better ballclub in the second half and be a more balanced ballclub." manager Eric Wedge said with disappointment
and talked to the media regarding some loop-holes which created difficulties for his team.
Starter Felix Hernandez pitched over seven innings and gave one run on six hits. Despite his balanced pitching, the Mariners lost the game with bitter humiliation. He struck-out six as his ERA remained consistent at 3.13.
Reliever Oliver Perez also gave one run on two hits as the Mariners lost the decisive game and lost the series against the A’s.
On the other hand, the A’s starter Bartolo Colon played well and remained consistent on the mound for 8.2 innings. He gave one run and seven hits as his ERA also remained consistent at 3.80.
Meanwhile, on the statistics table, both Mariners and Athletics are quite close in the American League West. The Athletics stand at third while the Mariners are at fourth position in the same AL Division.
Oakland will be happy with their performance as they managed to play like a team and beat the Mariners. Seattle will be looking to put in a better performance in their next series.
