Oakland Athletics hammer Boston Red Sox 6-1 – MLB Update
The Oakland Athletics dominated the Boston Red Sox 6-1 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, July 2 at O.co Coliseum.
The A’s played better than the Red Sox and performed beautifully throughout the game.
Stretching a five run lead into the sixth inning, the A’s afterwards never gave any chance to the Red Sox to come closer and held them under extreme pressure which proved decisive in the end.
Josh Reddick and Brandon Moss played brilliantly and helped their team to power past the Red Sox in the first game of the series.
"It seems like it's the same game every time, They get one run. Today started off a little spotty for him, a double in the corner, and they score a run early. It looked like maybe he didn't have his best stuff. He then certainly did his thing." manager Bob Melvin later said in the media about his team’s great combined effort which did not give any chance to the Red Sox except to face a humiliating defeat.
A’s’ starter Jarrod Parker played tremendously well and pitched 6.2 innings. He remained calm on the mound and received only one run on six hits. He also received one earned run and struck-out three batters as his ERA remained consistent at 2.46.
“It's just cool, Obviously it's something I never really thought of and didn't think it was possible at all. It's fun to look at, and I'm obviously honored to be compared to those guys. It's awesome. I do what I can and will try to do less than one run every time." Parker said.
On the other hand, the Red Sox starter Daisuke Matsuzaka played poorly and was smashed for five runs and four hits. He also gave five earned runs along with two homers.
He seemed uncomfortable on the mound as his ERA rose to 6.65 in just one inning’s play.
Though the Red Sox pitching was poor but it is also important to mention here that their batting line-up did not perform and lost the game without showing any fighting spirit.
