Oakland Athletics hammer Colorado Rockies 10-8 – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics hammered the Colorado Rockies 10-8 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, June 13 at Coors Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
With this win, the Athletics also took away the series with back-to-back defeats.
Coming into this game, the Athletics came out at Coors Field with full thrust and looked in aggressive frame of mind.
Capitalising on their senior players, the A’s played intelligently and won the game in the end.
Although both teams played aggressive and scored some heavy hits but in the end it was all just one team’s keeping composure and the other losing it with no force situation as A’s finished off with great accuracy.
Brandon Inge played wonderfully as he gave the two runs advantage to the A’s with his double in the ninth to oust the Rockies with big energy.
“We battled our way back, close enough to where we had a chance in the ninth, Coco gets on and creates a little havoc on the bases. Next thing you know, we have a ball in the corner and we've got two more runs." A's manager Bob Melvin said.
Closer Rafael Betancourt gave three runs in the ninth which proved disaster for the Rockies.
"I don't think I made good pitches," Betancourt said. "I've been through a lot of these games and there's nothing you can do about it. All you can do is come back tomorrow, because I'm going to keep pitching, but it's not good a feeling."
Overall the game was played on high pace. The A’s batters played well early in the game and took two runs’ lead in the very first innings.
Rockies on the other hand, also started a quick run and levelled the score in the bottom first. Not only the Rockies levelled the score, but they also gained their own lead of four runs in the second inning.
At that point, the game looked like a one sided affair in the favour of Colorado, but soon the A’s bounced back with heavy hammering of quick runs and eventually lead pass the Rockies with great energy.
