Oakland Athletics lose to Detroit Tigers 6-10 – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics lost to Detroit Tigers 6-10 in their first game of four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, May 10, at O.co Coliseum, Oakland in the 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Third baseman Miguel Cabrera played brilliantly and proved his worth scoring four hits and a deserted homer for the Tigers and remained top individual in his team’s win.
Cabrera said with confidence, “My swing was not functioning, Last month and this month we tried to figure out what was going on. Hopefully, we figured it out."
Later Tigers’ manager Jim Leyland said of Cabrera with quite contentment, "It was important. Hopefully, it will loosen some guys up a little bit. Hopefully, we can get on a little bit of a roll offensively. Those guys who came out today and hit a little extra did well today. One night doesn't mean we're out of our offensive woes, but that's a good sign for us, It does get contagious. A couple of guys start swinging, and then all of a sudden more guys start swinging."
The Tigers all batting lineup played well and never gave any chance to their opposing pitchers to take control of the game and eventually won it with style.
From Alex Avila to Delmon Young and from Brennan Boesch to Ramon Santiago, everybody played their individual roles and took the game away from the A’s strong batting lineup.
Overall the game was played on high pace as the Tigers went into one run lead early in the very first inning and further strengthened it in the third adding eight more runs in their score tally.
The nine runs’ cushion in the bottom fourth was enough for the Tigers to take the game away, but the A’s had still some energy when they roared their opponents with four runs in the eighth.
However, the A’s thrust was well balanced, but still could not match the level of determination the Tigers were carrying throughout the game and eventually took the game away with 10-6 hammering.
In the meanwhile, both teams’ next encounter is scheduled on Friday, May 11.
