Oakland Athletics lose to Minnesota Twins 4-5 – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics lost to Minnesota Twins 4-5 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, May 28 at Target Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
It was a combined effort from the Twins roster who always bounced back whenever the A’s tried to get into lead.
Twins’ pitchers did most of the hammering when they allowed only one run after their starter Scott Diamond went into bullpen.
Diamond finished giving three runs and nine hits but also struck out four A’s batters. He also maintained his 2.27 ERA with great fast throws in his total 6.1 innings’ spell.
Matt Capps also pitched well for the Twins in the ninth and earned a great win.
"I don't blame people for booing. They expect us to do a job, and I'm no different from the 24 other guys in here, I wouldn't be human if I didn't feel something. Nobody likes that, especially in their home ballpark.” Capps said.
Later designated hitter Ryan Doumit also said for Capps, "There's not a bigger competitor on this team than Capps, and no one wants to win more. There's not a better teammate, either. When he has a game like this we're all cheering for him, and when he has
a game like yesterday we all feel for him.”
Both teams entered into this game with huge confidence. Both are struggling at the moment, but with recent past performances, these two have been playing a competitive game.
From start of the game, the A’s looked more superior team as they took early lead in the 1st and second inning. However, soon the Twins started a great run and progressively decreased the lead to one run in the sixth.
At this stage, the A’s also started a push but this push was soon over by the Twins’ pitchers who ultimately thrashed their opponents sneaking through with one run’s lead, they won the game in style.
Despite with this win, the Twins are standing at bottom of the American League Central, but if they do continue their winning run, they probably will end up getting a post season spot.
