Oakland Athletics lose to New York Yankees 0-2 – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics’ lost to New York Yankees 0-2 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, May 27 at O.co Coliseum in 2012 Major League Baseball.
Though the Yankees maintained their three-game winning run against the A’s, but it does not affect on the result of the series as it was already won by the Yankees.
New York starter Hiroki Kuroda played wonderful and pitched some eight scoreless innings which eventually proved a winning factor for his team.
"You're going to have good stretches, you're going to have bad stretches," captain Derek Jeter said. "When things are going poorly it's usually not as bad as it looks. When things are going good, you're always that good. It's humbling when you hear those
names because any name you pass is a Hall of Fame guy, It's pretty special, but I'm not thinking about it."
First base Mark Teixeira also said on his team’s win, "I've been waiting for that hot streak, and I found it the last few days, Sometimes that's the name of the game, getting hot. As a team we're winning games, which is great."
Designated hitter Andruw Jones put the Yankees in lead in the second when he hit a homer to left. While later, it was Teixeira, whose important RBI and single in the bottom seventh gave the Yankees a superb win.
This series was also important for the Yankees who could have dropped to fourth position in the American League East Division, but winning all three games against the Blue Jays, now put them in the driving seat where they can easily topple the Tampa Bay
Rays’ spot and increase their chances to post season qualification.
Currently, the Yankees are at third with .553 winning percentage along with 26-21 win loss record.
The Blue Jays on the other hand, are at fourth position behind the Yankees while if they do able improve their current .500 winning percentage and win loss record, they have also a fair chance to grab the Yankees’ third position and also a spot in the next
round.
