Oakland Athletics loss to Kansas City Royals raises many questions – MLB News
The Oakland Athletics’ have recently suffered a humiliating defeat from Kansas City Royals in which they did not even manage a hit leaving the management in bigger despair who earlier in the offseason was expecting some big plays from this very lineup.
The 3-0 loss on Wednesday has raised many questions regarding A’s batting lineup which proved its worth in this year’s Major League Baseball Spring Training in Arizona.
"We've played before small crowds before; we've played in inclement weather, that doesn't affect it." said A’s manager Bob Melvin.
Seeing the low quality of A’s batting, the team management certainly felt a hefty blow and now pushing Melvin to give some vital suggestions to his team if they really wanted to stay in the competition.
Though still this is an early stage to predict anything regarding the results of the next regular series, but still they needed some good performances from their top players for a good beginning.
On contrary to A’s poor display in the last game against the Royals, news is coming that reliever Joey Devine is going to miss the entire season due to reconstructive elbow surgery which will hurt the A’s roster even more.
“The frustration level and sadness he's going through right now ... to have to go back and do that again, I really feel bad for him," Melvin said for Devine.
This is another worried factor for the Athletics now as they will not be having his services throughout the 2012 season which certainly is a great loss for Oakland baseball team.
In the meanwhile, the A’s management is trying to implement a new strategy that will bring all the pitchers in limelight. This is a kind of strategy that the Arizona Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers is already using for his team. He was the only GM who late in the offseason approved this new game plan for his manager while this game plan is also helping his team in the Majors as well. Experts say if the A’s management agreed to bring this new strategy in, the A’s results will be lot different.
