Oakland Athletics make history by winning American League West – MLB Update
Oakland Athletics’ finally proved their game as they won the American League West title by defeating the all potential contenders in the race to qualify for the postseason.
Rangers were outclassed by the Athletics’ reliable roster in the last series with a 94-68 win-loss record and .580 winning percentage, certainly showed their fans a ray of hope of becoming World Series Champions.
"I don't think any of us have ever been in this situation maybe but three or four guys, I just think we are too young and dumb to know the difference between what's pressure and what's baseball, you know?” said the excited and jubilant rookie catcher Derek Norris on clinching a Division title.
Oakland Athletics’ struggled throughout the season but they had a game plan which worked for them in the very last stages of the season.
"One day don't matter, It's like a race you can lead 300 of 301 laps if you don't get the last laugh it don't count," said outfielder Josh Reddick as he explained about his team’s achievement.
Later Brandon Moss, who has showed his great commitment with his superfluous skills told the reporters on his team’s huge accomplishment as he said, "They were the ones with everything to lose today, They had the division lead almost the entire season. They were trying to cling to it. We had nothing to lose, everything was ours to win."
Before the 2012 season or even in the middle of the season, no one had in mind that Athletics could surpass Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners.
But as they season progressed, baseball experts witnessed an overwhelmingly inspired roster who despite losing some of the best players like Brandon McCarthy, Brandon Inge, Bartolo Colon, and Brett Anderson, won a Division title.
Until the last game against the Texas Rangers, no one knew that they will surpass and won in style. With a Division title in hand now, the Athletics are full of optimism, as they know that they have a very good chance in the upcoming playoffs.
