Oakland Athletics pick Yoenis Cespedes for centre field – MLB News
The Oakland Athletics’ has lately taken a drastic step and filled its important centre field position by appointing outfielder Yoenis Cespedes on the basis of his recent performances in this year’s Spring Training. The team management has given this position to Cespedes over Coco Crisp’s past services on this particular position.
The A’s manager Bob Melvin is the main man behind who has made last minute’s changing and now wants both players to play according to their new positions.
"Coco was a pro about it," Melvin said. "I don't blame him for being disappointed."
Cespedes is new to the Major League Baseball. He has come from Cuban background while in the new environment of US; he needs some time to adjust. Cespedes is a former Cuban international, but defected from the country just to play in the big league. Earlier he also had to face some legal issues entering in US, but he sorted out matter by getting nationality of the Dominican Republic.
On his arrival in the Major League and playing here with top class professional players, he has spoken to the media as well and tried to explain his new playing commitments with the all together new team. "From the time I came from Cuba I played a little bit in the Dominican. It's completely different baseball,” Cespedes said, “I am excited to be here.”
However, now he is in the Athletics’ franchise and showing them his true abilities as what he can do for them. He is working hard in this year’s Cactus League and giving the team a right impression of being a responsible player whom they can trust at any point and on any position. That is why the A’s management has given the responsibility to Cespedes to play in the centre field in order to bring out the best results in the coming season.
In the meanwhile, some inside sources are also speculating in the media that the A’s have made changes only for the next season and if these changes worked out well for them, they might stick to it in the long run as well.
