Oakland Athletics put Grant Green and right-hander Michael Ynoa on 40-man roster – MLB
Oakland Athletics’ management knew after their brilliant stint in 2012 Major League Baseball season that they have to bring some of their Minor League players in the 40-man roster.
The Major League authorities introduced a new rule, according to which, every MLB franchise will bring their Minor League players to Major League within the four years of a contract.
They recently added two Minor Leaguers in the 40-man roster. Infielder Grant Green and right-hander Michael Ynoa were fortunate enough to be named in the A’s next year’s roster.
"Brandon and Jim were important contributors to our success in 2012, We'd love to find a way to keep them both in the organization," assistant general manager David Forst said in an e-mail.
Forst added, "Grant has adjusted well to everything we've asked of him over the last two seasons, He continues to excel offensively and will certainly receive consideration in spring training as we make decisions in the infield. Michael took a big step last year as he remained healthy and pitched outside of Arizona, We're excited about his progress since surgery and look forward to his first experience in major-league camp."
Grant Green, a second baseman, who also has played as shortstop, is a talented individual while Ynoa will also be a healthy addition in the Athletics.
Green with his playing abilities on different positions makes him a good choice in the upcoming Major League as well.
He was picked by the A’s in 2009 draft and from then onwards, he has been showing his best skills. On the other hand, Ynoa received $4.25 million signing bonus after being drafted in 2008.
Some say he is the highest paid amateur player in the Minor League from South America. He also performed well and showed his worth.
Along with these two players, the Athletics also moved right-hander Arnold Leon to the 40-man roster. Outfielder Shane Peterson also impressed with his last season’s performance and was given a chance to show his talents in the Major League.
Right-hander Andrew Carignan however, could not make it to the final 2013 roster due to his Tommy John surgery.
