Oakland Athletics receive 4-1 hammering from Texas Rangers – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics received 4-1 hammering from the Texas Rangers in the first game of their two-match regular series on Wednesday, 16 May at Rangers Ballpark, Arlington in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Starter Yu Darvish played brilliantly and proved the winning factor for the Rangers.
He pitched just over seven innings receiving just four hits, one run, one earned run and struck out seven A’s batters.
Darvish said for his outing, "No matter what the situation, I try to throw as many inning as I can and go as long as possible, I was able to throw with less effort, Getting taken out in the middle of the eighth is something that I'm not completely satisfied with."
"He was very efficient and made them swing the bat, Broke his cutter out tonight and moved his fastball around the zone." Texas manager Ron Washington said for Darvish.
The Rangers’ closers Mike Adams and Joe Nathan also helped their team to win the first game after losing two consecutive games against the Kansas City Royals.
Both remained confident in their two innings’ and gave no run.
On the other hand, the A’s starter Tommy Milone could not hold on to his fast throws and received bitter hammering from the Rangers’ batting lineup.
He was hit for four runs, nine hits and four earned runs.
Though he performed poorly throughout the game, but still the A’s skipper and some teammates appreciated his ball play and tried to give him confidence for future matches.
"I thought he threw the ball extremely well, And really, if we get the ball over to first base on the Gentry ground ball, it's a 2-1 game.” Oakland manager Bob Melvin said for Milone.
In the meanwhile, this particular win is quite a morale boosting victory for the Rangers after coming from two straight defeats from low averaged Kansas City. While in the coming days, it will also help them to remain their calm against some tough rivals ahead.
Currently they are sitting comfortable at 24-14 win loss record in the American League West with a winning percentage of .632.
