Oakland Athletics receive 5-4 hammering from Detroit Tigers in Game 2 of ALDS – MLB Update
Oakland Athletics received a 5-4 hammering from Detroit Tigers in Game 2 of American League Divisional Series on Sunday, October 7 at Comerica Park in Michigan.
"We just need to win a game, If you start thinking about three games ahead, you lose your focus on Tuesday's game," Oakland manager Bob Melvin said on his team’s performance.
"I just did it, It was the emotion of the game. I wasn't trying to be a hot dog," said Yoenis Cespedes.
Oakland did fight in this particular game but they still could not finish on a high note. Their pitchers played well but their batters were certainly disappointing on the plate.
"We didn't appreciate that. I thought it was immature and not very professional, You don't do that on the field. Save it for the dugout. That's all I'm going to say," Reddick said after the game.
Against Tigers’ five-run advantage, their batters only scored four and lost the game with bitter humiliation.
"Was looking for a fastball and I got it, It's a great feeling, to be able to go out there in that situation and do that," said Don Kelly.
After the hammering of game-one, the Athletics brought Tommy Milone on for Jarrod Parker. He did relatively well from Parker’s way-ward pitching. He received only one run and allowed five hits on his six innings spell. He struck-out six while he remained consistent on his 1.50 ERA.
While his decent and overall fine outing could not bring any good for his team as Athletics lost in the end.
On the other hand, the Tigers' pitchers and batters did well in the field and earned a great second straight win against the Athletics.
Doug Fister pitched seven innings and received two runs on six hits while he maintained ERA at 2.57. He struck-out eight and remained consistent on the mound during his spell.
Along with the starter, relief pitcher Joaquin Benoit also did well in his one his inning spell. He received two runs and two hits along with a homer.
