Oakland Athletics received 12-2 hammering from Detroit Tigers – MLB Update

Oakland Athletics received a 12-2 hammering from the Detroit Tigers in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, September 18 at Comerica Park in Detroit.
Miguel Cabrera’s late push helped his team to earn a well fought victory. He ran for six RBIs and scored three runs on his three hits. He did very well on the plate as he batted four times and maintained his slugging percentage at .610.
“Our job is to win games. There's no talk about personal numbers, Hopefully we can get a good winning streak. That's a hard thing to do. You've got to be lucky, Hopefully we get lucky in our division and win more games," Cabrera said with confidence and told the reporters about his offensive prowess which given the Tigers a good chance to oust the A’s with big force.
On the receiving end, Athletics’ starter A.J. Griffin was hammered with five runs and eight hits along with three huge homers on his 4.2 innings spell. He could not maintain his ERA which rose to 2.45 and proved one of the losing factors for the Athletics.
"Just wasn't executing pitches the way I usually do, Wasn't pounding down in the zone, leaving pitches up and they capitalized on it,” Griffin said on his poor performance which literally disappointed the Athletics.
Along with Griffin, the Athletics’ reliever Evan Scribner also played under pressure and lost in the end. He received three runs and two hits on his single innings spell.
Closer Jesse Chavez also played poorly and showed little energy in his pitching. He received four runs and four hits along with one homer on his blistering 10.27 ERA.
Tigers’ pitchers however, played real aggressive and won the game in style. They played well and earned a huge victory. Especially Max Scherzer did well on the mound and showed his valour.
"I didn't have any pain in my shoulder -- it was just like my arm was dead," Scherzer said. "MRI came back negative. All the structural -- it's all good."
He allowed one run and received two hits on his two innings spell. He struck-out four on his 3.78 ERA.
