Oakland Athletics’ rookies play hard in Boston – MLB News
The Oakland Athletics have won their first three-match regular series 2-1 against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday and received all-round recognition from many experts.
These experts are simply saying that the recent two consecutive wins by the A’s against much bigger rivals like Boston Red Sox have came from the hard work their rookie pitchers did in their three-match encounter.
This series was also important for the A’s as they needed a certain win after losing three straight games since April 27.
Coming into the Tuesday’s game, the A’s rookie starter and former Arizona Diamondbacks’ player, Jarrod Parker played brilliantly. He pitched well for almost six innings and won a balanced game for his team.
Parker said, "It's pretty cool, but I don't think it will sink in until tomorrow, I'll probably have to cut the ball in half."
Later Jordan Norberto also proved a helping hand when he struck out two of the most well established Red Sox hitters including Lars Anderson and Dustin Pedroia.
"Norby coming in in a situation like that, that team with a rally going, and doing what he did - that's impressive," A's catcher Kurt Suzuki said for Norberto after the post game press conference.
The A’s other player Ryan Cook, who still needs some extra time to perfect his game, proved his worth during Boston’s three-game trip with his exceptional fast curving throws.
Suzuki said about Cook whose fast deliveries were certainly difficult to catch behind the plate, "He's nasty, And these guys are only going to get better - can you imagine that? Holy smokes!"
Later, Cook said for his own game after hearing and receiving so many comments from teammates and media personals, "That won't happen forever, I'm going to give up some hits and some runs. I've just got to make good pitches and not get caught up in all that jazz."
This is a healthy sign for the A’s top management to get into the convincing position and make an exciting new start before the mid season break. They are currently at second position in the American League West after 13 wins and 13 losses at the percentage of .500.
