Oakland Athletics rout Colorado Rockies 8-5 – MLB Recap
The Oakland Athletics defeated the Colorado Rockies 8-5 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, June 12 at Coors Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The A’s had a good start at the beginning of the season, but as soon as the competition is approaching mid season break, their performance is not up-to the mark however, with this latest win against the Rockies, they seemed on right track.
They not only beaten the Rockies with complete authority but they also showed their true class when they kept their opponents under pressure until last inning and eventually won in style.
First baseman Brandon Moss played wonderfully and made two important runs and three RBIs to lift pass the A’s with a great win at a very crucial stage of competition.
"Any time you're new to the team and it's the middle of the year, you want to come in and produce right away, But a lot of times, you put too much pressure on yourself, You've just got to pull yourself back and stay within yourself and remember what it is
that you do. Not everybody is Albert Pujols.” Moss said in detail about his contribution.
He added with more confidence, “You just have to do the best you can, battle, play your game and let things happen as they may. This is a great opportunity, and that's all you can ask for, I'm very thankful for it."
Though both teams’ pitchers showed an average game from their respective ends but still the batters proved more productive and played some good hits.
A’s starter Bartolo Colon despite getting hit nine times and giving five runs, still managed to maintain his 4.21 ERA with five earned runs.
On the other hand, the Rockies’ Jeremy Guthrie also proved ineffective for his team. He gave seven runs, eight hits and seven earned runs as his ERA rose to 6.91.
In the meanwhile, with this win, the A’s are now standing at third position in the American League West Division with 28-35 win loss record and .444 winning percentage. The Athletics will be looking to carry their winning momentum forward and build up some
much needed confidence.
