The Oakland Athletics’ have selected Parker to start the game against the Tigers' hard hitters.
"We’ve been the ’David’ all year, I think obviously it’s a role and an image that we’ve kind of taken on and been able to embrace and it’s fun," A’s right-hander Jarrod Parker said.
“Obviously with Verlander going Game 1, you’ve got to be on your game, We have a lot of left-handed bats that are hot right now, and I think that’s one thing we’ve got going for us," Parker said on his selection to start on Saturday and also told the media about Verlander’s calibre.
Parker pitched in this year’s regular season with 3.47 ERA along with 13-8 win-loss record and 140 strike-outs with a 1.26 WHIP.
While Verlander pitched with 2.64 ERA along with 17-8 win loss, 239 strike-outs and 1.06 WHIP.
