Oakland Athletics sneak past the Detroit Tigers 4-3 in game four of their five-match American League Division Series on Wednesday, October 10 O.co Coliseum in Oakland.
"There's a confidence, We've done it so many times, so there's always going to be that confidence until we make that last out," manager Bob Melvin said on his team’s performance.
Coco Crisp ran for a RBI single in crucial ninth inning which proved one of the winning factors for the Athletics.
"It's amazing, The guys in front of me obviously did a fantastic job of getting on base. ... This club, we've been battling the whole year, giving 100 percent, and these walk-offs have been our MO this year," Crisp said on his great batting.
Overall the Athletics’ centre fielder batted five times and scored one run, one hit along with one RBI on his consistent .389 slugging percentage.
The Athletics’ played under pressure from the very beginning but as the match progressed, they picked the momentum and eventually rattled the Tigers with style.
Along with Coco Crisp, the Athletics' right fielder Josh Reddick also played well and supported his team with great energy. Reddick scored one run and one hit on his four at-bats while he maintained his slugging percentage at .357.
"We've heard a lot of people say we're not smart enough to know when to lose a game like most people do, We've been battling 'til the 27th out all year and we're not going to stop now," said Josh Reddick.
Designated hitter Seth Smith scored one run and smashed one hit along with two RBIs. He played aggressive and maintained his slugging percentage at .545.
Athletics’ pitchers also played well and did not show any extra loop-holes to the Tigers. A.J. Griffin pitched five innings and received two runs and seven hits along with one homer on his 3.60 ERA.
Along with Griffin, relief pitcher Sean Doolittle also played well and earned a great victory for his team.
He pitched 0.2 innings and received three hits and allowed one run on his 3.38 ERA as Athletics ease past the Tigers with style.
