Oakland Athletics sneak past Texas Rangers 3-2 – MLB Recap
Oakland Athletics beat the Texas Rangers 3-2 in the second game of their four-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, September 25 at Rangers Ballpark in Texas.
"Each and every win has a little bit more magnitude to it, especially against a team that's above you, This team's responded like this many, many times this year. It doesn't surprise me," Oakland manager Bob Melvin said.
It was a well fought victory by the Athletics as they did not give any extra loop-holes to the Rangers’ experienced offence and won in style.
First baseman Brandon Moss scored one run and smashed one hit on his four at-bats. He played offensively and maintained his slugging percentage at .570.
Designated hitter Chris Carter added one run along with an important RBI on his single hit. Carter played the Rangers’ pitchers with ease and remained persistent on his .534 slugging percentage.
Catcher George Kottaras scored one run and smashed two hits along with an RBI. He stood tall against the Rangers’ talented pitchers on his four at-bats while he also showed some offensive plays on his .513 slugging percentage.
"To do that and help the team in that manner was huge for me, I went up there looking for a fastball and he threw one that I could handle," Kottaras said.
Athletics’ pitchers also did very well on the mound and showed full authority on the mound. They all performed well and pitched with great accuracy.
Starting pitcher Tommy Milone pitched six innings and received two runs and six hits. He struck-out three while he maintained his ERA at 3.74.
Relief pitcher Sean Doolittle pitched 1.1 innings and allowed only one hit on his 3.21 ERA.
On the other hand, the Rangers’ entire roster was weak in the field as they could not match the Athletics brilliance during the entire game.
“Some of those other guys in the bullpen have to come in and get outs, It can't always be Joe Nathan or Mike Adams,” Texas manager Ron Washington said.
Rangers’ starter Scott Feldman pitched four innings and received two runs and four hits along with a homer. He did not pitch in right areas as his ERA rose to 5.16.
