Oakland Athletics’ starter Brandon McCarthy gets green signal to resume baseball activities

The Oakland Athletics’ starter Brandon McCarthy will be playing baseball soon after being out of action for over two months due to surgery. He was hit in the head by a line drive during the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
"It's a nice weight lifted, knowing everything is back to normal," McCarthy told The Chronicle by phone on Wednesday and told them about this cheerful news.
McCarthy added, "Dr. Collins was happy with everything, It's not at all what he expected to see, and they don't just go on basic tests; it's not like you can lie your way through it. It's incredibly comprehensive and specialized."
His serious injury shocked many as experts believed that he might not play in the next big event. His testing was rigorous while now reports are coming that he will be alright to resume baseball activities and will be playing in the next big event.
The Doctors cleared him to start a workout program which will ensure his potential playing chances in the coming year.
A's manager Bob Melvin was also happy to see this development as he said in the media, "That's unbelievable, You're just hoping he survives and can live a normal life; at one point, he was having trouble seeing out of one of his eyes - and now, so soon, he's been cleared. Boy, there is sure some fight in him. He's tough."
Dr. Michael Collins is using his best knowledge and vast experience in McCarthy’s treatment. He is an expert in concussion related injuries and spending significant amount of time with A’s starter.
On the other hand, Brandon McCarthy is an experienced campaigner and was doing well during the season. His team grabbed a post-season spot this year but this was not an achievement by Oakland on their own, it was also the result of an earlier effort by McCarthy’s extraordinary hard work on the mound.
Even he did not finish the season on a high note, but still he proved his valour and secured good stats.
His ERA remained consistent throughout the season on 3.24 along with 8-6 win-loss, 73 strike-outs and 1.25 WHIP.
