Oakland Athletics to add talented designated hitter for next season – MLB News
The Oakland Athletics’ are planning to add a talented designated hitter for the next Major League Baseball season in order to build a strong roster against other top level League teams.
Earlier, the media came to know about this news when the Athletics' general manager Billy Beane spoke during a public meeting that the management know how bitterly their team performed last season and now to avoid further season’s humiliation, the club’s executives agreed on mutual understanding of adding a new designated hitter in the franchise.
“With our middle of the line-up, there's obviously a big hole," Beane said. "I think finding a guy that can hit in the fourth spot is not easy right now.”
The idea of adding a hitter for the next season is hugely appreciated by many baseball experts. Many people later also started in the media that the Athletics' GM is surely talking about signing Manny Ramirez and Magglio Ordonez. However, these speculations are still rumours as no one in the Athletics' management has claimed regarding any news of these players coming in the A’s roster next season.
At the end of the 2011 regular season, Beane has also stated in the media about his franchise’s offensive game approach that is now needed to add some extra flair in order to put-up a competitive battle next season. Beane said, “We've been inconsistent with our offense and pitching. But the effort is there. Guys are busting their tails. And certainly, relative to previous starts, we're on fire.”
In the meanwhile, during the FanFest last week, the Athletics' management was not only present but they also made certain speaking sessions with the general public explaining to them next season’s preparations, signings and roster rotation.
The Athletics’ fans also asked plenty of questions on many issues including their bad offensive record, dire relief pitching roster and more importantly their plans to upgrade their 40-man roster. The management explained to their loyal fans in great detail as to how only the next season will tell how effective these measures are. The team are looking forward to becoming more competitive in the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
