Oakland Athletics to explore deal for Miami Marlins' shortstop Yunel Escobar – MLB Update
This year, the Oakland Athletics showed one of the most improved performances in their recent history when they qualified into the post-season of the 2012 Major League Baseball season with great valour.
Their entire roster proved their offensive focus and outplayed many leading Major League teams. Though they could not go further into the post-season but still their performance was recognised by many in the entire league.
However, as soon as the season ended, the Athletics’ management started to evaluate their overall team’s performance and tried to learn certain things which did not work out in the last stages of some crucial post-season games.
Their quick action to get a better idea for not going further into the post-season proved somewhat correct as they singled out number of factors which now needed to be dealt with.
Now reports are coming in the media that Athletics' management wants to do quick action on one the most important factors which must be reshuffled before the start of 2013 Major League Baseball season.
During the last season, the Athletics lacked with a good shortstop but now their front office has agreed to install a well established shortstop for next potential seasons.
Experts believe that if Athletics had a good shortstop in their roster during the last Major League outing, they would have reached more glory.
Reports are also coming in the media that the Athletics have now turned their attention towards Miami Marlins’ shortstop Yunel Escobar.
“He looks like a hitter, quite a bit about him," said A's manager Bob Melvin, who said the team knows him well.
Melvin added, “That door is always open until it's closed, We're not going to be a market-maker - we're going to sit back, see if we're able to afford him, see if we can be somewhat creative. There will probably be a little dialogue, we'll see where he's at when he narrows it down a bit,"
Though still no official comment has not come out in the media from both sides, but it is believed that Athletics certainly want Escobar to play for them.
Escobar, who has five-years of Major League experience, certainly possesses extraordinary baseball skills and can be a great fit for the Athletics.
He finished the last season on a high note achieving .253 hitting average along with nine homers, 51 RBIs and .300 OBP.
