Oakland Raiders’ Chris Johnson leaves after family tragedy – NFL News
Sad news have been reported for Chris Johnson as his sister was killed and mother wounded in a shooting in Fort Worth, Texas on Monday.
The incident was reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The newspaper reported that a 46-year-old man shot dead Johnson’s sister and fired on his mother in the parking lot of the apartment where they were residing. The incident
left Johnson’s mother wounded and she is expected to survive the incident.
According to police, Eugene Esters the boy friend of Johnson’s sister, Jennifer Johnson, 33 had been asked to leave the apartment where he was living. He however, stayed the night in his car and on the following morning had an
argument with Jennifer after which he shot her. He also shot Della Johnson, 53, the mother of Jennifer Johnson.
Esters has been apprehended and placed in a jail in Mansfield. He is charged with two crimes; one of murder and the other of attempted murder.
The Oakland Raiders have allowed Johnson leave to be with his mother. Johnson has reportedly left for Dallas. The incident has occurred a few days before the Oakland face the Green bay Packers in their home.
Oakland Raiders Head Coach Hue Jackson was hopeful that Johnson will be part of the team on Sunday.
"This is a game of football. The thing he's dealing with is a game of life. We'll get him back here pretty soon. Very, very tough situation that he's dealing with. But the organization supports him, I support him, he'll get back
here and be ready to go." Jackson said.
Johnson’s presence is being considered very important on Sunday’s game. Especially at a time when the Raiders are faced so many injuries and have their key players uncertain for Sunday’s game. The players who missed the practice
on Wednesday were running back Darren McFadden and wide receivers Jacoby Ford and Denarius Moore. McFadden is out with a foot sprain. Ford is nursing a left foot injury while Moore has sustained an injury in his right leg.
Chris Johnson had only just returned to the team last Sunday after being off the field for a month owing to an injury.
