Oakland Raiders’ Darren McFadden, Jacoby Ford in doubt for Sunday – NFL News
Oakland Raiders may have a lot to worry now as their running back Darren McFadden and wide receiver Jacoby Ford were absent from practice on Monday. Their status is now uncertain for the game against Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
McFadden seemed to be making progress in his recovery from a foot sprain but stayed short of starting full workouts. McFadden has missed two straight games for the Raiders since his foot sprain and now has his status now uncertain
for the Sunday’s game. McFadden sustained an injury while playing against Kansas City on Oct. 23 and has not practiced since then. Head Coach Hue Jackson said he was close to a recovery.
"I know we're getting closer to getting him back out here," Jackson said. "I know he's working his tail off. When I saw him this morning he looked good. Until we get closer later on in the week and we know exactly where he is,
I don't want to speculate."
Ford, on the other hand, had his foot injured while playing against the San Diego last Thursday. Ford is currently on a protective boot and along with McFadden missed Monday’s practice.
Jackson did not speculate on the injured players’ status for Sunday.
"We have a team of doctors that handle that," Jackson said. "They're normally going to tell me when a guy can play and I trust their judgment and what they do. Nobody's been ruled out as of now, so we'll go through the week and
see where we're at."
Michael Bush and Denarius Moore are poised in as possible replacements for McFadden and Ford. Both excelled in their game against the Chargers in Oakland, playing a role in their team’s win. Bush managed 157 yards of running and
85 yards of reception along with a touchdown. While Moore was equally good catching seven passes for 143 yards and scoring two touch downs.
Bush and Moore featured well against San Diego filling in the gap just like the Raiders needed to. So after all the absence of McFadden and Ford may not be a source of concern for the Raiders.
The Raiders are now on the top in the AFC West and would need to maintain it. However, injuries may put them in a vulnerable position as they get ready to face the Vikings. Oakland also had another three players missing from practice
namely Richard Seymour, Michael Huff and DeMarcus Van d**e.
