Oakland Raiders’ QB Terrelle Pryor contacts former great Rich Gannon for improvement – NFL News
Oakland Raiders’ quarterback, Terrelle Pryor, has already asserted that even though he is the third-string quarterback for the team he will continue to compete for the starting role.
Pryor is certainly moving in the right direction as he has now started identifying areas for improvement after appearing in just one game in his debut season last year.
He has been working with Raiders’ quarterbacks coach, John DeFilippo, who also thinks that the player is capable of getting the starting role and the player has now contacted Raiders’ former quarterback, Rich Gannon, to get some tips regarding improving his game.
Gannon officially announced retirement from the National Football League (NFL) in 2005 and has been working as a broadcaster since calling it quits.
In his NFL career, Gannon was named to the Pro Bowl squad four times. He is also a three-time All Pro and received the title of Most Valuable Player (MVP) two times in his four Pro Bowl appearances.
Although Pryor has not yet been able to properly sit with Gannon and discuss his game, the quarterback thinks that the former star can help him improve his performance.
Pryor said of contacting Gannon:
“I called him and he gave me some wisdom on the game of football.”
At the moment, Pryor wants to improve his footwork and be consistent. He has been training of late with Raiders’ regular quarterback, Carson Palmer, and thinks that the training will help him overcome his flaws.
He said:
“I work with the best, I work with Carson every day. I think the biggest thing is to keep working on my feet and getting my footwork done because sometimes it’s not consistent. When it’s consistent, I make perfect throws. When it’s not, sometimes it’s not the best drive. So I just have to keep working on that and getting better at it.”
Recently, Raiders acquired quarterback, Matt Leinart, making Pryor the third-string quarterback, but the latter was not offended by the former’s arrival and said that it was a part of this business.
However, he did mention that the presence of two more quarterbacks in the squad did not discourage him from competing for the starting role.
