Oakland Raiders defenseman Richard Seymour doubtful for Week 10 tie against Baltimore Ravens – NFL News
Oakland Raiders defensive lineman Richard Seymour is listed as questionable for Week 10 tie against Baltimore Ravens to be played on Sunday, November 11, 2012.
This is another big blow for Raiders who are facing injury crisis at a lot of positions on both sides of the field.
Seymour remained absent from practice session for the second time in a row on Thursday, November 08. The 12-season veteran is rehabilitating from his hamstring injury.
Raiders head coach Dennis Allen was not much affirmative about the player’s chances to play on Sunday. Seymour himself looked unsure whether he will be able to get fit enough to play in the important game. According to the Associated Press, Seymour said:
"I don't know, I'm not sure. Hammies are tough. I've had them throughout my career. The only thing you can do is work hard. When it's ready I'll be back."
If Seymour remains unavailable, Allen will have some major issues to solve in the injury-plagued defensive line.
Raiders are already without defensive ends Dave Tollefson and Matt Shaughnessy due to shoulder injuries while backup defensive tackle Desmond Bryant is unavailable due to irregular heartbeat.
Raiders’ defensive line is facing a gigantic task of stopping running back Ray Rice and the rest of Ravens running game.
The team is coming off its worst performance in rushing defence as they allowed Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back Doug Martin a massive 251 rushing yards and four touchdowns in Week 9.
Raiders defensive coordinator Jason Tarver has emphasised that the defence must get its basics right. Talking about the team’s defensive woes, Tarver said:
“We’ve moved different players inside throughout the season. We’ve done things so that if anything happens, because that is the great game of football through 16 weeks, you know its next man up all the time, and we’ve built that depth throughout the year
with our front. Our front has got better across the board of using our hands in those different things, those different guys in those different positions.”
The only good news for Raiders this week was the return of right tackle Khalif Barnes, who has been out for the last six weeks due to problems in his groin.
