Oakland Raiders’ defensive end, Dave Tollefson, who has recently joined the team after ending his association with the defending Super Bowl champions, New York Giants, has said that he is expecting the Raiders to use him at different positions.
In an interview when he was asked what job did Raiders ask him to take, he explained that the team management has not informed him about anything yet, which, he thinks, is not a matter to worry about.
In fact, he seems supportive of the team’s idea of not spilling the beans at the moment and thinks that he could play at different positions. He said:
“I think as just a jack of all trades, a lot of things to kind of hang my hat on. They haven’t promised me anything, which is what I want. I don’t want to be promised anything. That is not the style of player that I am.”
He added:
“There’s an opportunity to play, whether that’s starting or in the backup, a rush guy or a guy that can play the edge in the run. So I think it’s going to be a little bit of everything, which is what I love to do.”
Tollefson started his professional National Football League (NFL) career with Green Bay Packers in 2006.
He was added to Packers’ practice squad and was unable to make it to the active roster for the regular season.
Before the 2007 season, Raiders selected Tollefson from the practice squad and sent him to Europe.
Tollefson still feels obliged to Raiders for sending him to Europe and said he thinks that there is debt to pay to the Raiders.
In 2007, he joined the New York Giants and was a part of Giants’ squad that won the Super Bowl XLVI.
When asked about how he can lead Raiders to the Super Bowl next year, he asserted that there is no secret behind winning the title.
He was of the view that if a team works hard throughout the season and take advantages of the opportunities in the playoffs, it can easily secure the title.
Tollefson signed the new contract with Raiders a couple of days ago.
