Oakland Raiders have three players making it to the Pro Bowl – NFL News
Three Oakland Raiders players have made it to the Pro Bowl team for 2012. These include punter Shane Lechler, kicker Sebastian Janikowski, and defensive tackle Richard Seymour.
Starting with Lechler, he has been named for his seventh Pro Bowl appearance this time. It is also his fifth straight selection. Lechler who has been playing for the Raiders for the past eleven years has had a lot of success this season. This season he has
77 punts for 3,902 yards to his credit with an average of 50.7 yards which is one of the highest in the history of NFL.
Janikowski was selected for the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career this Tuesday. Janikowski has been playing with the Raiders for eleven seasons. He has attempted to score field goals 31 this season and has succeeded in 27 of these attempts. His longest
one was a 63 yarder. The Raiders coach Hue Jackson was quite optimistic of Janikowski being selected to the Pro Bowl. He expressed these views during his press conference on Monday.
"The guy is the best kicker in football, hands down. I'd be very disappointed if his name doesn't show up. He's as good as there is in football. Period." Jackson said.
Janikowski was the man who got the Raiders a victory over the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday with his 36 yard field goal in overtime.
Seymour, the third Oakland player to be named for the Pro Bowl had his name appear on the AFC side for the seventh time despite a slacked performance recently. Seymour has also managed to pull out of a knee injury that he sustained lately. However, his last
Saturday’s performance was a game winning one as he managed blocking two field goal attempts by the Chiefs that surely changed the game in favour of the Raiders. Seymour did not have any sacks in the past three games. The defensive tackle has six sacks and
27 tackles so far this season without any interceptions. After playing eight seasons with the New England Patriots, he has been with the Raiders for the past three seasons.
Running back Darren McFadden nursing a foot sprain will be asked to play in case of an injury. However the chances of his early recover are nowhere near so he may have to definitely stay out of the Pro Bowl.
The Patriots have eight players who made it to the Pro Bowl this year.
