Oakland Raiders’ quarterback Carson Palmer has no regrets – NFL News
Oakland Raiders’ quarterback, Carson Palmer, who joined the team for the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season after being traded by the Cincinnati Bengals, has said that he has no regrets looking back at his career.
Palmer started his professional NFL career with the Bengals and served them for eight straight years. However, his departure from Cincinnati was rather unfortunate.
Before the start of the last season, Palmer was reluctant to play for Bengals. As a result, the team brought in a rookie and had to trade the veteran.
Palmer, on the other hand, does not think of it as a sorry tale. Instead, he believes that the trade was in the best interest of both parties.
While talking during the Dan Patrick Show, Palmer said that the trade was necessary and that both sides are in a better place now.
He said:
"It was time to move on and it was time for them to move on and they're in a better place and I'm definitely in a better place.”
Palmer was of the view that Bengals were selecting young players to rebuild their team and the quarterback did not find himself fitting in any role.
The trade, he thought, was the best option which served not only Bengals but Raiders also.
He said:
"I had put in, going on nine years, and gave everything I had and I don't look back and regret anything. But it was time to move on. They had a young team that was an up-and-coming team. It was time for me to move on. I think in the years to come both organizations
will look back and say this thing was the best thing to happen."
That being said, it is also pertinent to note that Palmer’s arrival in Oakland was not well received either.
The team management was criticised by many over the move, particularly because Raiders had to compromise their first-round pick in the 2012 draft in favour of the Bengals.
Raiders’ general manager, Reggie McKenzie, however, is still counting on Palmer for better performance in the upcoming season in which Raiders want to qualify for the playoffs, at least.
