Oakland Raiders rookie DE Jack Crawford focusing on improving mindset – NFL News
A lot has been expected from Oakland Raiders defensive end Jack Crawford, who was selected in fifth round of this year’s draft.
The coaches expect him to be physical and utilise his athleticism in the team’s interest. He is yet to prove his worth as he has received very little chance of doing so and the team has also acknowledged it.
Raiders have seen him performing during the minicamps and other offseason workout activities, but his true talent will be showcased during training camp that will start next month before preseason games.
He is going to train with other players including the team’s veterans and will have a great opportunity to prove his talent.
Crawford realises that it is a big challenge, but he is also up for it. However, he knows that there are plenty of areas for him to improve and he wants to work on them as the time passes.
According to CSN Bay Area, Crawford said of his performance:
“That’s the one thing about me, I always feel like I have room to improve. That’s my mindset. And that’s what’s gotten me to where I am now.”
Crawford is ambitious and wants the Raiders to win the Super Bowl. Not only that, he also wants to be a member of the Super Bowl winning squad and play a major role in the team’s victory.
It is good to see the passion, but he has to transform it into his on-field performance during training camp, preseason games and the regular season this year.
According to the player, he wants to prove his selection and make the management believe that it made a right call by drafting him. He said:
“I think the biggest thing I'm trying to show is that, I think physically I'm just as able as any other defensive end in the draft and I think that whatever they need me to do, whatever they want me to do, I'm not going to stop working until I get to that
point where they're satisfied and I'm satisfied with my performance.”
Meanwhile, Raiders head coach Dennis Allen has said that he is monitoring the rookie’s performance and said that “we're going to be able to define a pretty good role for him.”
