Oakland Raiders’ season review – a glance at the team’s another failure – NFL Special (Part II)
Continued from part I...
Against New England Patriots
Raiders played their next home game against the aggressive New England Patriots and the home team did put on a good fight, but it was not enough to down the Pats.
Raiders started with scoring a field goal, which was replied by Patriots’ touchdown.
Raiders got a touchdown early in the second quarter, but Patriots added 10 points to increase their lead.
In the third quarter, Patriots got a touchdown while allowing a field goal and the final quarter saw both teams scoring a touchdown each.
The final scored settled at 31-19 in favour of Patriots.
At Houston
Raiders had played for games and won two. After getting defeated by Patriots, they travelled to play against Houston Texans.
Texans got the first scoring move of the game in the form of a touchdown, which was followed by a Raiders’ field goal in the first quarter.
Raiders got nine points in the second quarter while giving away seven.
Both teams scored a field goal each in the third quarter by the end of which Texans were leading by two points.
However, Raiders managed to progress in the final quarter and added 10 points while giving away a field goal.
The final score settled at 25-20 in favour of Raiders.
Against Cleveland Browns
Raiders received a serious blow in the game against Browns as their quarterback, Jason Campbell, was forced to leave the field owing to an injury.
Raiders, however, managed to win the game.
Raiders got a touchdown in the first quarter and both teams grabbed seven points each in the next quarter.
Raiders added 10 more points in the third quarter to gain a 17-point advantage. Browns tried to retaliate in the final quarter, but could only get 10 points and lost the game.
The final score settled at 24-17.
Against Kansas City Chiefs
After winning two straight games, Raiders hosted Kansas City Chiefs in a game that became an utter disgust for the hosts.
Chiefs got two touchdowns in the first quarter, one in third and another in fourth while Raiders spent the whole game without even getting a single scoring move.
Since Campbell was out due to the injury, Raiders brought two quarterbacks, Kyle Boller and Carson Palmer, and both of them failed badly.
Palmer said after the game:
“It was just an awful feeling walking off the field to be beat like that in the fashion that we were beat."
Boller shared his feelings by saying:
"I'm just extremely frustrated. I had an opportunity to go there. It just didn't go as planned. Definitely not my best outing. I feel bad for my teammates. I feel like I let my teammates down. There's not much to say. The play speaks for itself."
Against Denver Broncos
After suffering a humiliating defeat against Chiefs, Raiders had a bye week after which they hosted the Broncos, who were seeking revenge.
Broncos had fixed their flaws and quarterback, Tim Tebow, was leading the team from the front, but Raiders were still struggling.
Raiders put on a good fight, but still fell short.
Raiders were leading 17-7 by the halftime. However, Broncos accelerated in the next half of the game and secured 31 points while giving away only seven.
The final score settled at 38-24 in favour of Broncos.
