Oakland Raiders wide receiver Denarius Moore returns to practice field – NFL News
After spending a month out of the game, Oakland Raiders wide receiver Denarius Moore practised with his teammates on Thursday, September 06, 2012.
Moore has been recovering from a hamstring injury he got during the practice session on August 04. He was able to attend only four sessions in training camp before the injury occurred.
Moore was jubilant to get back into the game. It is expected that the Raiders will rely on him more heavily this season. According to Associated Press, Moore said:
"It felt really good to be back out there with my teammates and get my timing down with the quarterback, just getting a feel for things, I've been out for so long you somewhat forget the fundamentals."
Moore’s return is also marked with the addition of veteran receiver Derek Hagan into the Raiders’ team.
Head coach Dennis Allen has explained that Moore’s absence was precautionary measure taken by Raiders to give him maximum amount of time to recover from his injury.
Allen also said that Moore is likely to take part in the Raiders season opener against San Diego Chargers on Monday, September 10.
Raiders faced problems in the wide receiving corps during the preseason. Both of their starting receivers, Moore and Jacoby Ford, failed to participate in any of preseason games after being sidelined due to injuries.
Quarterback Carson Palmer will feel relieved to see his favourite receiver returning on the field, but he is worried about how much game-ready Moore is after spending a month on the bench. Palmer said:
"I know it's been a frustrating training camp for him because he's a football player and that's what he wants to be doing. It's good to see him out there getting reps, getting his legs back out there underneath him. He's going to need that. You lose football
shape really fast and it's hard to get it back.”
Palmer has previously shown his concerns for not getting much time to practise with his prime receiver during the offseason. Moore missed considerable time during the offseason minicamp and organised team activities as well.
Moore is coming off an astounding rookie season in which he played 13 games and caught 33 passes while covering 618 passing yards. He also managed to score five touchdowns.
Moore was drafted by Raiders in the fifth round (148th overall pick) of the 2011 draft.
